Id like to think that ive changed alot......I know that i know so much more than i did then, i know more about survival, firearms, craftmanship, fighting, knives, driving, i mean.....leaps and bounds man.
And....its actualy not a bad idea to have 12 fullmags for your primary fighting rifle, becasue having them ready and loaded up is better than having to reload as often.
But, PMAGs in particular.....$30 per mag....that gets expensie fast.
Oh yeah, you HAVE changed a lot.
So have I.
You are still full of shit though
But its the good kind of shit, not the shit kind of shit
I guess thats good, are you too? lol _________________ Amateurs train until they get it right. Professionals train until they cant get it wrong.

So my crew has a few options, my main mans dad is the dep chief of the sherrifs dept in my county, basically the only person he aswers to is the sherrif. And my main man use to work in the jail. So one of our options is to go down and lock ourselves in the jail, with our weapons and supplies, it provides a nice defense, innmates to offer to the zombs (not really) and various supplies other than what we bring, or we might be in the mobile comand center which our sherrifs dept recently bought. So we may be running with his dad, if not we'll be in conntact, for however long aperiod of time.
Plan B, is to go down to the coast and comender a boat, brinnging our usual gear + that solar powered water purifier and de sailen-er Dm i think was talking about. And of course fishing supplies.
Plan C we go down to our VFW which has no unbarred windowns and no un barred doors, theres a kitchen, bar, lots of space, and a stable but not the best, fence around it, and its out of sight from the road.
Now i have a ford F-150 triton V8, four door, from '01 its a good tough truck, im thinking itll be my technical, course id rather have a FJ cruiser. But whatever, i figure, if i start now, and save up a barrel or two of gas, a sypon, get a cattle/brush guard on the front of it, a snorkle for the engine, top lights, big tires, cages for the windows, and maybe a elevated hard cover for the back. Not including weapons, may be a nice technical to carry crap in. And for getting around, now its not like a long term convoy vehical because it only get bout 19 to the gallon. But i figure its a good start.
Now i made a huge supply list and am still working on it, it has 4 sections: Wears, Ranged weapons, melee weapons, and gear (or other). it will get long after this point but try to bear with me.
Please keep in mind that this is best case cenario, and alot of these are most likely luxeries, but i am considering this over a VERY long siege, maybe not all of this stuff will fit in my truck, even though it is huge. But, i might be in a convoy to where ever we might be going. What i would liek to here from you dudett/s and dudes is do you think im missing any thing thats not a luxuery that would be nice to have for an outbreak. Or if you think any not obvious luxery is not needed. And for Ranged weapons, im still working on getting the bumps smoothed out there on what i actually want to invest in, and for the melee, dont try to question me much there, i have a reason for most everything on that list. Thanks for reviewing.
Wears:
-BDU (digital) in jungle, desert, plains/grassland, black and snow.
-Utilikilt style: survival
List was edited for brevity and because the post was too long for the software I use.Sinnerman
-tire chains
-ear plugs
Ok I figured it out... you are the artist formerly known as Shadow of Destruction! Cool. I've been gone and you've been growing
We've talked a lot before so I'll be straight up with you.
Your priorities are fucked...
You don't need all that gear. At your age your real lack is training and experience. If you've got the money to get all that gear (which could run well over 20 grand), you should be spending it getting the best training you can afford. Go to Tactical Response or Front Sight of a similar training school. Go take some NOLA courses. Get Ron Hood's Video Course and master the info in it. There is some gear every ZORT needs and an order in which to acquire it. For half the price of your sword you can acquire a rather complete basic kit. The other half would buy a year's supply of food for one adult. Before you buy anymore gear or pimp your ride for Armageddon set 3K$ aside to complete your baseline gear. Here's the order I recommend you spend it:
1) Get core gear (22-28 pounds max weight and should all fit in a medium ALICE sized pack or smaller).(from 100-1000USD)
2) Duplicate of Item 1... remember 2=1 1=none
3) Body Armor. Everybody buys guns for a thousand bucks. Here in North America anyone can buy good Lvl3 body armor for less than $500US (Upto $5k for dragon skin) but no one buys it. That is stupid.
4) Night Vision, as good as you can afford $500-1200USD (and yes you can buy FLIR/Thermal Imagers if you got the scratch, about 2 grand minimum upto 50KUSD).
Your core gear should be light enough and small enough to grab and go at a moments notice. Once you've established your core gear, you need to ensure that you always have a set available. That's why your first move is to duplicate it. Then get some body armor... Having a gun lets you fight. Having some body armor keeps you in the fight and buys you a chance when your up against a better gunman than you. Night vision...OOh baby, changes everything! Get Some Now. Then you can proceed to get food, more guns and all the other stuff. The weight/size constraints I've presented still allow for a very complete kit especially if you develop your skill level and get quality the first time.
The good news is, i think im already down the right path, ive got both of the Magpul Carbine DVD sets, a Mossberg 590 (i know...its not a carbine lol).
I had not thought about body armor, but i will now. Would you recomend DragonSkin? I hear mixed reviews.
What else would you advise as far as brands, coverage, range of motion, maybe even concealable body armor? I know Chris Costa (from Magpul) wears a very snug fit Ballistic vest but i dont remember what lvl it is or where it comes from.
Ill look into those other training systems. Thanks for the input Sir, i appreciate it. _________________ Amateurs train until they get it right. Professionals train until they cant get it wrong.

Cool,
Yea Dragonskin is overpriced but it will do what it says.
If I was a young man starting out, I'd get a LVL-II or IIa to start. That vest becomes my daily. Then get a Lvl III or IIIa for when the shit hits the fan. If you want form fit at a decent price your talking a Lvl II type vest. One note: pretty much stick with Kevlar vests. the newer Aramid vests are not as temperature and chemical resistant and if you go for them you'll need to be much more vigilant in maintenance and wear. They don't seem to last as long. The 590 is a great choice (not saying that just cause I got 4). I'm not a great fan of carbines except for certain urban situations. A shotgun or full rifle usually served me better. A carbine still can't replace a good pistol cause its to big to have on me all the time. They are really only fun if you pay the extra dollars for the tax stamp and get a SBR. By the way since you got a 590 forget the carbine course and get the Combat Shotgun Course then go get a case of the cheap white birdshot (or 2 ) from wallyworld and Practice, Practice, Practice. Master what you have then on to something new until you become a four gun combat master. At that point you can officially call yourself a badass.

There is nothing at all wrong with having 12+ mags. In my battle vest, I have that exact amount all loaded and ready to go. Plus many others in waiting. You can never have too much.
Also, dont know where you are getting your Pmags dude but you are paying way too much. I get them for $13.95 a pop or bundles of 10 for $99.
lolol I just had to comment on this.
Krue and I loaded a retarded amount of magazines for our 3gun shoot. When everyone was back at their vehicles reloading mags, we were basically throwing our half used/empties into a pile in the back of his SUV then going back to the vest to get some more rock n roll fuel. Actually that may be vice versa, from the pile to the vest, but it still rocked.

At one point I had like 50 shotgun shells in my cargo pockets, and my mag carrier/rear pockets full of G21 and G30 mags. We got a little ridiculous when it came to ammo. I still owe Krue some 5.56 when I can afford it.
I actually found out that I could reliably stow magazines in the ass pockets of my Carhartts. _________________ Vixi Perpetuo.
Dude, were you running from station to station with all those shells in your pocket? Goddamn....i can only imagine that would slosh SO much.
Damnet, i need to build my AR so i can go to some IDPA stuff. Sounds like way to much fun. _________________ Amateurs train until they get it right. Professionals train until they cant get it wrong.
