Civilian: An untrained average human. They can't put up much of a fight, but if cornered they sometimes get lucky.

Ebola: A severe, often fatal hemorrhagic fever that affects humans and non-human primates. Initially recognised in 1976. Named after a river in the Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire), this virus is one of the two filoviridae (along with Marburg virus). Ebola comes in four known flavors: Ebola-Zaire, Ebola-Sudan, Ebola-Ivory Coast (aka Ebola-Tai), and Ebola-Reston, the fourth of which has only ever caused disease in nonhuman primates. The origin of this virus is unknown. As far as research dictates, it only came into existence 30 years ago, however, it's very probable that this disease has been around for hundreds if not thousands of years. This virus spreads through minimal fluid contact, primarily found in blood and saliva. The most deadly form is Ebola-Zaire, which has a fatality rate of around 90%.

Filonecrosis: A fictional member of the Filoviridae virus family. Significantly less dangerous virus than Lyssa X, but dangerous for entirely different reasons. Filonecrosis is a relative of Ebola and Marburg, differing in that it doesn't shut down the internal organs as quickly. The end result is that eventually as circulation slowly fails, the person becomes stiff, uncomfortable, their skin starts to blacken in patches (much like gangrene or frostbite). Almost like the stereotypical "slow moving zombie" from hollywood, but still capable of speech and movement. The primary danger here will be how the public reacts, and how the victim will react to this infection, as the person stumbles around with bleeding eyes, nose, mouth, lips, anus, and genitals, with large blackened portions on their skin and face. In reality, those infected probably will not be much more dangerous than those suffering of Leprosy, only much more contageous.

Lyssa X / Lyssavirus X: A fictional member of the Lyssavirus genus, and cousin to Rabies, Lyssa X is characterized by its severely reduced incubation period, cutting the time of flu like symptoms to a few days, as opposed to rabies which can take months to years to take effect. Other than that, the symptoms and behaviors are almost identical. Those infected with Lyssa X will be severely mentally retarded and highly aggressive and violent. They will have little difficulty climbing staircases or operating doors, and will be able to pick up and use relatively simple weapons (possibly even guns, as long as no cocking or loading is required, though this would be very unlikely and uncommon), but will not be very effective at climbing ladders or aiming weapons, and will probably not be capable of much speech or communication.

Marburg Virus: First recognised in 1967, the other member of the filoviridae along with ebola. Outbreaks occurred simultaneously in Marburg and Frankfurt, Germany, during research with the African Green Monkey, affecting 37 people. Has a fatality rate of around 25%. Survival can be complicated by orchititis, hepatitis, transverse myelitis, uvetis, inflammation of the testis, spinal cord, eyes, and parotid gland. Is transmitted through bodily fluid, including but not limited to saliva, blood, and semen.

OZORT: Organization for Zombie Outbreak Resistance Tacticians, a collection of professional zombie killers.

Rabies: The Rabies Virus is a species of the genus "Lyssavirus", which derives its name from the Greek word meaning "frenzy". These viruses ensure their propagation by causing the infected to become irrationally aggressive toward everyone around them, regardless of past relationships with the infected individual. Rabies is characterized by anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 years of flu like symptoms before it really takes hold of the host.

Rabies X: Another name for Lyssa X. A fantasy virus named after the plant group that includes tomatos and eggplants, Solanum is a virus that is capable of taking over and completely rewiring the way the human body works, creating an entirely new type of circulatory system, and changing the muscles so that they are able to work without glucose, ATP, or sugar. Featured in Max Brooks book, "The Zombie Survival Guide". Works great as a "worst case scenario" virus.

Soldier: A member of the Army, National Guard, a survivalist, gang member, basically anyone who is trained to fight and kill.

T Virus: A fantasy virus featured in Resident Evil. Characterised by its ability to reanimate dead cells, and bioengineered in a weapons facility. Other than it's origin, pretty much identical to Solanum.

Trench Knife (Trench Spike): We focus specifically on the 1917 model of the trench knife, which has a slender spike shaped blade and brass knuckles to cover the fingers.

War Wagon: A vehicle designed to carry individuals to and from a battle zone. Serves as a mobile supply base.

Zombie: A reanimated corpse

ZORT: Zombie Outbreak Resistance Tactician. A single member of OZORT, Zorts are informally (and more commonly) referred to as "OZORT Tacticians".
